DIY Drop-Off / Self-Setup Policy
Last Updated: 05/04/2026
This DIY Drop-Off / Self-Setup Policy explains the responsibilities that apply when a customer rents Backyard Starz equipment as a DIY, drop-off, or self-setup rental.
This policy applies to all DIY or drop-off rentals provided by Backyard Starz, LLC (“Backyard Starz,” “Starz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By booking a DIY or drop-off rental, submitting payment, signing a booking agreement, checking an acceptance box, accepting delivery, taking possession of equipment, or using our equipment or services, you agree to this DIY Drop-Off / Self-Setup Policy.
1. What a DIY / Drop-Off Rental Means
A DIY or drop-off rental means Backyard Starz provides the rental equipment, and the customer is responsible for setting up, operating, taking down, repacking, protecting, and making the equipment ready for pickup or return.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Backyard Starz does not provide full setup or takedown service for DIY/drop-off rentals.
Customer is responsible for following all instructions provided by Backyard Starz and contacting us with any questions before using the equipment incorrectly.
2. Customer Responsibility
For DIY/drop-off rentals, Customer is responsible for:
- Receiving the equipment at delivery or pickup;
- Reviewing and following all setup and operating instructions;
- Setting up the equipment safely and correctly;
- Providing a safe, clean, dry, and suitable setup area;
- Providing proper electrical power;
- Supervising all guests and children during the rental period;
- Protecting the equipment from weather, sprinklers, water, mud, pets, food, drinks, fire, sharp objects, rough surfaces, theft, and misuse;
- Taking down and repacking all equipment correctly;
- Keeping equipment organized, complete, dry, clean, and ready for pickup or return;
- Paying any applicable fees for damage, missing items, cleaning, late return, improper packing, or additional labor.
3. Deposit and Payment
Unless otherwise stated in your booking confirmation, invoice, or written agreement, a deposit is required to secure your date.
For the Family / Drop-Off Package, Backyard Starz may require a 50% deposit at the time of booking.
Your date is not confirmed until Backyard Starz receives the required deposit and any required booking agreement, waiver, or written confirmation.
The remaining balance is due according to your booking confirmation, invoice, or Payment Policy.
4. Equipment Included
The equipment included in your DIY/drop-off rental will depend on the package selected and your booking confirmation.
Your rental may include some or all of the following:

- Speaker or speakers;
- DVD player or media player;
- Inflatable lounge chairs;
- Tables;
- Air pump;

Backyard Starz is not responsible for streaming interruptions, Wi-Fi issues, app login problems, device compatibility issues, unavailable content, account restrictions, copyright licensing issues, or customer-provided equipment problems.

Backyard Starz does not warrant that the area selected by Customer is fit or proper for setup or use of the equipment.
7. Grass, Turf, Concrete, and Other Surfaces
Equipment is generally easiest and safest to set up on clean, dry, reasonably flat grass.
For non-grass surfaces such as turf, concrete, pavement, patios, driveways, decks, or other hard surfaces, additional anchoring or weighted support may be required.
Unless included in your package or confirmed in writing, weighted items may not be included.
For certain non-grass setups, Customer may be responsible for providing four weighted items, each at least 50 pounds, or renting appropriate weighted items from Backyard Starz for an additional charge.
Customer is responsible for ensuring that the equipment is safely secured and used only in a suitable location.
8. Electrical Requirements
Customer is responsible for providing safe and functioning electrical power.
Unless otherwise agreed in writing:
- Equipment requires one electrical outlet within 50 feet of the screen location.

- Backyard Starz does not provide a generator.
- If Customer provides a generator, Backyard Starz is not responsible if the generator does not properly power the equipment.
Customer is responsible for power interruptions, tripped breakers, faulty outlets, inadequate circuits, generator issues, unsafe electrical conditions, or customer-provided electrical equipment.
9. Sprinklers, Water, and Weather Protection
Customer must turn off all sprinklers before and during the rental period.
Equipment must not be exposed to:

Customer agrees to store all equipment in a protective area and keep it out of the elements.
If rain, lightning, thunder, high winds, wet ground, or unsafe weather occurs, Customer must stop use immediately and protect the equipment where it is safe to do so.
Customer may be responsible for damage caused by weather exposure, sprinklers, wet ground, mud, or failure to protect the equipment.
10. Fire, Cooking, Smoking, and Heat
Customer agrees not to allow cooking, fire, smoking, grills, fire pits, candles, fireworks, heaters, open flames, or combustible materials under or within 10 feet of inflatable screens, inflatable chairs, or related equipment.
Customer is responsible for any damage, injury, or loss caused by fire, smoke, heat, burns, fireworks, grills, cooking, smoking, combustible materials, or related hazards.
