Electrical, Power & Generator Policy

Last Updated: 05/04/2026

This Electrical, Power & Generator Policy explains the electrical requirements, power source responsibilities, generator rules, extension cord requirements, and customer responsibilities for rentals and services provided by Backyard Starz, LLC (“Backyard Starz,” “Starz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).

By booking a rental, submitting payment, signing a booking agreement, checking an acceptance box, accepting delivery, allowing setup, taking possession of equipment, or using our equipment or services, you agree to this Electrical, Power & Generator Policy.

1. Customer Responsibility for Power

Customer is responsible for providing safe, functioning, and adequate electrical power for the rental equipment.

Backyard Starz is not responsible for power interruptions, tripped breakers, faulty outlets, overloaded circuits, inadequate electrical capacity, generator problems, customer-provided cords, or unsafe electrical conditions at the event location.

2. Standard Electrical Requirements

Unless otherwise agreed in writing, Backyard Starz equipment requires:

  1. One working electrical outlet within 50 feet of the screen location.
  2. A standard 115-volt outlet.
  3. A circuit with 20-amp capacity.
  4. A circuit used only for Backyard Starz equipment during the rental period.

The electrical outlet must be accessible, safe, and ready before the scheduled setup time.

3. Dedicated Circuit Requirement

Backyard Starz equipment should be the only equipment operating on the electrical circuit used for the rental.

Customer should not plug other high-power devices into the same circuit, including but not limited to:

  • Heaters;
  • Fog machines;
  • Bounce houses;
  • Additional speakers;
  • String lights;
  • Refrigerators or coolers;
  • Food warmers;
  • Popcorn machines;
  • Extension cords serving other equipment;
  • Other event equipment.

Using multiple devices on the same circuit may cause breakers to trip, equipment to shut off, or equipment to operate improperly.

4. Extension Cords

Backyard Starz may provide electrical cords up to 50 feet, depending on the package and setup.

For distances greater than 50 feet, Customer may be required to provide an appropriate 12-gauge extension cord up to 100 feet.

Customer-provided extension cords must be safe, undamaged, outdoor-rated when used outdoors, and appropriate for the equipment.

Backyard Starz may refuse to use damaged, unsafe, undersized, overloaded, or unsuitable extension cords.

5. Maximum Distance From Power

Backyard Starz will not set up equipment more than 200 feet from a power source.

Long cord runs may cause voltage drop, tripped breakers, poor equipment performance, or unsafe operating conditions.

Backyard Starz may refuse setup or require an alternate setup location if the power source is too far away or unsuitable.

6. Outlet Location

The power outlet should be located within a reasonable distance of the setup area and should not require cords to cross high-traffic areas, sidewalks, driveways, streets, pools, standing water, or unsafe pathways.

If cords must cross areas where people may walk, Customer is responsible for helping reduce trip hazards and supervising guests.

Backyard Starz may adjust the setup location if the outlet location creates a safety issue.

7. GFCI and Outdoor Outlets

Outdoor outlets should be properly installed, functioning, and suitable for outdoor use.

Backyard Starz recommends using a properly functioning GFCI-protected outlet for outdoor setups.

Customer is responsible for ensuring that outlets, covers, wiring, breakers, and electrical systems at the event location are safe and code-compliant.

Backyard Starz does not inspect, repair, certify, or guarantee the safety of Customer’s electrical system.

8. Generators

Backyard Starz does not provide generators unless expressly agreed in writing.

If Customer chooses to provide a generator, Customer is solely responsible for the generator, including:

  • Selecting a generator with sufficient power capacity;
  • Providing fuel;
  • Operating the generator safely;
  • Ensuring the generator can run for the full rental period;
  • Keeping the generator dry and away from guests;
  • Following all manufacturer instructions;
  • Complying with venue, HOA, park, fire, and noise rules;
  • Providing safe generator placement and ventilation.

Backyard Starz is not responsible if a customer-provided generator does not properly power the equipment.

9. Generator Safety

Generators should never be used indoors, inside garages, inside enclosed patios, near doors, near windows, or in any enclosed or poorly ventilated area.

Customer is responsible for safe generator operation and for preventing risks related to carbon monoxide, fire, fuel, heat, noise, fumes, electrical shock, tripping hazards, or improper use.

Backyard Starz may refuse setup or stop service if a generator appears unsafe, unstable, underpowered, improperly located, or unsuitable.

10. Power Interruptions

Backyard Starz is not responsible for interruptions caused by:

  • Tripped breakers;
  • Power outages;
  • Faulty outlets;
  • Overloaded circuits;
  • Insufficient electrical capacity;
  • Extension cord issues;
  • Generator failure;
  • Customer-provided equipment;
  • Weather;
  • Sprinklers or water exposure;
  • Venue electrical restrictions;
  • Utility provider issues.

If power is interrupted during the event, Customer should contact Backyard Starz for troubleshooting guidance when possible.

Refunds are not provided for power issues caused by the event location, customer-provided power, customer-provided generator, customer-provided cords, or circumstances outside Backyard Starz’s control.

11. Water and Electrical Safety

Electrical equipment must be kept away from water.

Customer must turn off all sprinklers before and during the event.

Electrical equipment, cords, outlets, projectors, speakers, media players, pumps, and generators must not be exposed to:

  • Rain;
  • Sprinklers;
  • Hoses;
  • Pools;
  • Water features;
  • Standing water;
  • Mud;
  • Wet ground;
  • Wet extension cords;
  • Wet hands or wet equipment handling.

If electrical equipment becomes wet or unsafe, Customer must stop use immediately and contact Backyard Starz.

12. Weather and Electrical Conditions

Backyard Starz may refuse setup, delay setup, modify setup, cancel service, or require rescheduling if electrical conditions are unsafe.

Unsafe electrical conditions may include:

  • Rain or active precipitation;
  • Lightning or thunderstorms;
  • Standing water near outlets or cords;
  • Wet or muddy setup area;
  • Damaged outlets;
  • Exposed wiring;
  • Overloaded circuits;
  • Unsafe generator placement;
  • Inadequate power capacity;
  • Cords crossing unsafe areas.

Customer may be responsible for damage, injury, or loss caused by unsafe power conditions, water exposure, or failure to follow Backyard Starz instructions.

13. Customer-Provided Devices

If Customer provides a streaming device, laptop, video game console, cable box, adapter, router, hotspot, or other electronic device, Customer is responsible for ensuring that the device is working, compatible, powered, charged, connected, and ready for use.

Backyard Starz is not responsible for issues caused by customer-provided devices, including:

  • Dead batteries;
  • Login issues;
  • App restrictions;
  • Streaming interruptions;
  • Wi-Fi problems;
  • HDMI or adapter issues;
  • Device incompatibility;
  • Software updates;

  • Damaged or faulty customer devices.

14. Repeated Plugging and Unplugging

Customer and guests may not repeatedly plug, unplug, restart, or tamper with Backyard Starz electrical equipment, including motors, blowers, pumps, projectors, speakers, media players, or cords.

Repeated plugging and unplugging may damage equipment, create power issues, or create a safety hazard.

Customer may be responsible for damage caused by improper electrical use or tampering.

15. Right to Refuse Setup or Stop Service

Backyard Starz may refuse setup, stop setup, modify setup, cancel service, or require rescheduling if we determine that electrical conditions create an unreasonable risk to people, property, or equipment.

This may include, but is not limited to:

  1. No working outlet within the required distance;
  2. Unsafe or damaged outlet;
  3. Inadequate circuit capacity;
  4. Repeated breaker trips;
  5. Unsafe extension cords;
  6. Unsafe generator;
  7. Wet or muddy electrical conditions;
  8. Cords crossing unsafe areas;
