Accessibility / Accommodation Policy

Last Updated: 05/05/2026

This Accessibility / Accommodation Policy explains how Backyard Starz, LLC (“Backyard Starz,” “Starz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles accessibility requests, accommodation requests, service animals, communication needs, and site-related limitations for our website, rentals, equipment, and services.

Backyard Starz wants our outdoor movie rental experience to be welcoming, enjoyable, and accessible whenever reasonably possible.

By booking a rental, submitting payment, signing a booking agreement, checking an acceptance box, accepting delivery, allowing setup, taking possession of equipment, or using our equipment or services, you agree to this Accessibility / Accommodation Policy.

1. Our Commitment

Backyard Starz is committed to treating customers, guests, and event attendees with respect.

We will make reasonable efforts to support accessibility needs and accommodation requests when we can do so safely, practically, and without fundamentally changing the nature of our services.

Because our services involve temporary outdoor setups at customer-selected locations, some accessibility considerations may depend on the event site, ground surface, access path, lighting, weather, power, and space available.

2. Requesting an Accommodation

If you or a guest needs an accommodation, please contact Backyard Starz as early as possible before your event.

Accommodation requests may relate to:

  • Setup location;
  • Seating layout;
  • Equipment placement;
  • Walking paths;
  • Cord placement;
  • Lighting concerns;
  • Access for wheelchairs, walkers, strollers, or mobility devices;
  • Communication preferences;
  • Service animals;
  • Timing or delivery coordination;
  • Other accessibility-related needs.

The earlier we receive the request, the better chance we have of helping plan a setup that works for your event.

3. Customer-Selected Event Locations

Customer is responsible for selecting and providing the event location.

Backyard Starz does not own or control most customer event locations, including private homes, yards, driveways, apartment communities, public parks, HOA spaces, schools, churches, venues, or shared outdoor areas.

Customer is responsible for ensuring that the event location is accessible and suitable for the people attending the event, including guests with disabilities or mobility needs.

This may include considering:

  • Parking;
  • Sidewalks;
  • Driveways;
  • Yard access;
  • Gates;
  • Stairs;
  • Slopes;
  • Uneven ground;
  • Lighting;
  • Restroom access;
  • Seating access;
  • Trip hazards;
  • Distance from parking to the viewing area;
  • Access to covered or indoor backup areas.

4. Setup Location and Equipment Placement

Backyard Starz may work with Customer to place equipment in a way that supports accessibility when reasonably possible.

This may include adjusting:

  • Screen location;
  • Speaker placement;
  • Seating layout;
  • Cord routing;
  • Table placement;
  • Aisles or walking paths;
  • Viewing angles;
  • Access to inflatable chairs or alternate seating areas.

Backyard Starz may refuse or modify a requested setup if the location is unsafe, inaccessible, too small, too sloped, wet, muddy, obstructed, electrically unsafe, or likely to damage equipment or property.

5. Cords, Stakes, and Trip Hazards

Outdoor movie setups may include cords, stakes, stands, speakers, tables, inflatables, and other equipment that can create trip hazards.

Backyard Starz will make reasonable efforts to reduce trip hazards where practical, but Customer is responsible for supervising guests and making sure guests are aware of equipment, cords, stakes, and walking paths.

If guests use wheelchairs, walkers, canes, strollers, or other mobility devices, Customer should notify Backyard Starz in advance so we can consider the setup layout.

6. Seating and Mobility Needs

Backyard Starz may provide inflatable lounge chairs, side tables, or other seating depending on the selected package.

Inflatable lounge chairs may not be suitable for all guests, including guests with mobility limitations, balance concerns, back issues, pregnancy-related needs, or difficulty getting up from low seating.

Customer is responsible for providing alternate seating if needed, including chairs with backs, higher seats, wheelchair-accessible viewing spaces, or other seating appropriate for their guests.

7. Service Animals

Backyard Starz respects the role of service animals.

Customers should notify Backyard Starz in advance if a service animal will be present so we can plan equipment placement and avoid unnecessary issues with cords, inflatables, speakers, or walking paths.

Service animals must remain under control and should be kept away from equipment in a way that prevents injury, punctures, chewing, scratching, tripping, contamination, or damage.

Backyard Starz does not charge a fee for service animals. Customer may still be responsible for damage caused by an animal, including damage to inflatable chairs, screens, cords, bags, or other equipment.

DOJ guidance says businesses generally may not request service-animal documentation, require the animal to demonstrate its task, or ask about the nature of the person’s disability; service animals may be excluded only in limited circumstances, such as when the animal is out of control and not brought under control or is not housebroken.

8. Pets and Emotional Support Animals

Pets and emotional support animals are not the same as service animals for purposes of this policy.

Pets and non-service animals should be kept away from Backyard Starz equipment.

Customer is responsible for damage, cleaning, stains, odors, chewing, scratching, punctures, pet hair, urine, feces, or other issues caused by pets or animals.

9. Communication Preferences

Customers may let Backyard Starz know if they prefer communication by phone, text, email, or another available method.

Backyard Starz will make reasonable efforts to communicate in an accessible and practical way regarding booking details, setup instructions, policies, arrival windows, weather issues, or event changes.

For accessibility-related communication needs, please contact us as early as possible.

10. Website Accessibility

Backyard Starz wants its website to be usable by as many customers as reasonably possible.

If you experience difficulty accessing information on our website, submitting a form, reading a policy, understanding package information, or completing a booking request, please contact us so we can try to provide the information another way.

DOJ guidance notes that businesses open to the public should ensure the goods and services they provide online are accessible to people with disabilities.

11. Weather, Lighting, and Outdoor Conditions

Outdoor movie rentals may be affected by weather, lighting, ground conditions, and outdoor hazards.

Accessibility may be affected by:

  • Rain;
  • Mud;
  • Wet grass;
  • Uneven ground;
  • Darkness;
  • Low lighting;
  • Wind;
  • Heat;
  • Cold;
  • Insects;
  • Fire ants;
  • Steep slopes;
  • Poor drainage;
  • Limited access paths;
  • Unsafe electrical conditions.

Backyard Starz may delay, modify, cancel, or reschedule service if conditions are unsafe or unsuitable.

12. Public Parks, Venues, HOAs, Apartments, and Shared Spaces

For events at parks, venues, schools, churches, apartment communities, HOA common areas, or shared spaces, Customer is responsible for confirming accessibility rules, site access, parking, permits, restroom access, and venue requirements.

Backyard Starz is not responsible for venue accessibility, public park accessibility, HOA restrictions, apartment community rules, parking availability, restroom access, or access paths outside Backyard Starz’s control.

13. No Guarantee of Specific Accommodation

Backyard Starz will make reasonable efforts to support accessibility requests, but we cannot guarantee that every requested accommodation will be possible.

Some requests may not be feasible because of:

  • Safety risks;
  • Equipment limitations;
  • Weather;
  • Site conditions;
  • Power requirements;
  • Space limitations;
  • Access restrictions;
  • Venue rules;
  • Customer-selected location limitations;
  • Risk of equipment damage;
  • Requests made too close to the event.

Backyard Starz may offer an alternate setup location, modified layout, rescheduling option, or other reasonable alternative when appropriate.

14. Relationship to Other Policies

This Accessibility / Accommodation Policy should be read together with Backyard Starz’s:

  • Rental Agreement / Terms of Service;
  • Setup, Delivery & Pickup Policy;
  • Equipment Safety Rules;
  • Electrical, Power & Generator Policy;
  • Weather Policy;
