Photography & Social Media Policy
Last Updated: 05/05/2026
This Photography & Social Media Policy explains how photos, videos, testimonials, reviews, social media tags, customer-submitted content, and marketing permissions are handled for rentals and services provided by Backyard Starz, LLC (“Backyard Starz,” “Starz,” “we,” “us,” or “our”).
By booking a rental, submitting payment, signing a booking agreement, checking an acceptance box, accepting delivery, allowing setup, taking possession of equipment, or using our equipment or services, you agree to this Photography & Social Media Policy.
1. Customer Privacy Matters
Backyard Starz respects the privacy of our customers, families, children, guests, and event attendees.
We may love seeing photos from your outdoor movie night, but we do not want to use private event photos in a way that makes customers uncomfortable.
This policy explains when Backyard Starz may take, receive, share, repost, or use photos and videos connected to customer events.
2. Photos or Videos Taken by Backyard Starz
Backyard Starz may occasionally take photos or videos of our equipment, setup, screen, seating, or event layout for documentation, quality control, training, portfolio, marketing, or social media purposes.
When possible, Backyard Starz will try to avoid capturing close-up images of children, guests, private family moments, house numbers, license plates, sensitive personal details, or anything that appears private.
Backyard Starz may use photos or videos that primarily show our equipment, setup, screen, seating, or event layout, provided the content does not prominently identify children or guests without permission.
3. Photos or Videos Showing People
Backyard Starz will not intentionally use close-up, clearly identifiable photos or videos of customers, children, guests, invitees, or attendees in marketing materials without permission.
This includes use on:
- The Backyard Starz website;
- Social media accounts;
- Digital ads;
- Print materials;
- Email marketing;
- Portfolio pages;
- Promotional materials;
- Business listings;
- Other marketing channels.
4. Children and Minors
Because many Backyard Starz events involve children, we take extra care with photos or videos showing minors.
Backyard Starz will not knowingly use a clearly identifiable photo or video of a minor for marketing purposes unless we have permission from a parent, legal guardian, or responsible adult authorized to provide that permission.
Customer is responsible for ensuring that any photos or videos submitted to Backyard Starz for marketing use may be shared and used as described in this policy.
5. Customer-Submitted Photos and Videos
If Customer sends Backyard Starz photos or videos by text, email, upload, direct message, review platform, or another method, Customer grants Backyard Starz permission to view and use those materials for customer service, internal documentation, and event-related purposes.
Backyard Starz will not use customer-submitted photos or videos for public marketing purposes unless:
- Customer gives permission;
- Customer tags Backyard Starz publicly on social media;
- Customer posts the content publicly and clearly invites or permits sharing;
- Customer provides the content in connection with a review, testimonial, or marketing request; or
- Backyard Starz otherwise has a reasonable basis to believe Customer intended the content to be shared.
Even when a customer shares content publicly, Backyard Starz may choose not to repost or reuse content that prominently features children or private family moments unless permission is clear.
6. Social Media Tags and Public Posts
If Customer tags Backyard Starz, mentions Backyard Starz, shares a public post, or posts publicly about a Backyard Starz event, Backyard Starz may like, comment on, share, repost, or reference that public post.
By tagging Backyard Starz in a public social media post, Customer gives Backyard Starz permission to repost or share that post through Backyard Starz’s own social media channels, unless Customer asks us not to.
Customer should not tag Backyard Starz in photos or videos that Customer does not have permission to share.
7. Reviews and Testimonials
If Customer leaves a public review, testimonial, rating, comment, or recommendation about Backyard Starz, Backyard Starz may use, quote, excerpt, screenshot, display, or share that review or testimonial for marketing, advertising, website, social media, business listing, or promotional purposes.
Backyard Starz may use Customer’s first name, initials, city, review platform, star rating, or general event description in connection with the review, unless Customer requests otherwise.
Backyard Starz will not intentionally publish Customer’s private contact information in connection with a review or testimonial.
8. Permission to Use Approved Photos and Videos
If Customer gives Backyard Starz permission to use photos or videos for marketing, Customer grants Backyard Starz a non-exclusive, royalty-free, worldwide permission to use, reproduce, display, publish, edit, crop, resize, distribute, and share the approved photos or videos for business, marketing, advertising, social media, website, portfolio, promotional, and related purposes.
This permission may include use in:
- Website pages;
- Blog posts;
- Social media posts;
- Digital ads;
- Flyers or printed materials;
- Email marketing;
- Business profiles;
- Portfolio examples;
- Promotional videos;
- Other Backyard Starz marketing materials.
Customer understands that no compensation, royalty, or payment will be provided for approved marketing use unless Backyard Starz agrees otherwise in writing.
9. Customer Responsibility for Permission
Customer represents that Customer has the right to share any photos, videos, testimonials, reviews, or content provided to Backyard Starz.
Customer is responsible for obtaining permission from any person shown in customer-submitted content, including parents or legal guardians of minors where required.
Customer agrees not to submit or authorize Backyard Starz to use any photo, video, or content that violates another person’s privacy, publicity rights, copyright, or other rights.
10. Opting Out
Customers are not required to allow Backyard Starz to use event photos or videos for marketing.
If you do not want Backyard Starz to photograph, share, repost, or use photos or videos from your event, please notify us in writing before the event or as soon as possible afterward.
Backyard Starz will make reasonable efforts to honor opt-out requests.
11. Requests to Remove Photos or Videos
Customer may request that Backyard Starz remove a photo or video from Backyard Starz-controlled channels, such as our website or social media profiles.
Backyard Starz will make reasonable efforts to remove the content from channels we control.
However, Customer understands that Backyard Starz may not be able to remove content that has already been shared, saved, reposted, indexed, cached, printed, distributed, or published by third parties or social media platforms outside Backyard Starz’s control.
12. Photos Taken by Guests or Third Parties
Backyard Starz is not responsible for photos, videos, recordings, livestreams, posts, or social media activity by Customer, guests, invitees, attendees, neighbors, venues, vendors, or third parties.
Customer is responsible for managing guest photography, privacy expectations, and social media sharing at the event.
13. Event Documentation
Backyard Starz may document equipment condition, setup layout, access issues, damage, missing items, safety concerns, weather exposure, site conditions, or other event-related matters through photos, videos, notes, or messages.
Such documentation may be used for internal records, customer service, insurance, damage claims, payment disputes, legal purposes, or enforcement of Backyard Starz policies.
14. No Expectation of Professional Photography
Backyard Starz is not a photography or videography service.
Any photos or videos taken by Backyard Starz are incidental to our rental services and are not part of the purchased rental package unless expressly agreed in writing.
15. Inappropriate or Sensitive Content
Backyard Starz reserves the right not to use or repost content that we determine, in our discretion, is inappropriate, unsafe, private, misleading, low quality, offensive, unlawful, or inconsistent with the Backyard Starz brand.
Backyard Starz may also remove or decline to share content that includes unsafe equipment use, alcohol misuse, illegal activity, identifiable minors without clear permission, private property details, or other sensitive information.
16. Relationship to Other Policies
This Photography & Social Media Policy should be read together with Backyard Starz’s:
- Privacy Policy;
- Rental Agreement / Terms of Service;
- Waiver & Liability Release;
- Alcohol & Guest Conduct Policy;
- Equipment Safety Rules.
If there is a conflict between this policy and a signed booking agreement, invoice, photo release, or event-specific written agreement, the event-specific written agreement will control for that event, unless prohibited by law.
17. Customer Acknowledgment
By booking a rental, submitting payment, signing a booking agreement, checking an acceptance box, accepting delivery, allowing setup, taking possession of equipment, tagging Backyard Starz publicly, submitting photos or videos, or using Backyard Starz equipment or services, you acknowledge that you have read, understand, and agree to this Photography & Social Media Policy.
